About Katelyn Treviño

Katelyn is a mental performance coach with an 18-year gymnastics background where she competed as a college gymnast at The University of Missouri. She has a Master's Degree in Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology and a second Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW). Today, she has combined all of her knowledge and experiences to help gymnasts, coaches, parents, and teams work through the many mental challenges of the sport.

She likes to consider herself a “Gymnastics Life Coach”, because she focuses on teaching skills that help gymnasts be successful, not only in the gym, but also in their future career, relationships, and other pursuits. She covers topics such as building confidence, overcoming fear, breaking perfectionism, and many more.

How do you motivate gymnasts to do their best?

I help gymnasts tune into their mind and what goes on inside of it. By doing this, I teach them how to change their negative and self-critical thoughts into more kind and empowering ones, so that they can become their own self-advocate on and off the competition floor.

I truly believe that a gymnast’s success is based on her own self-confidence, mental strength, and ability to overcome obstacles. When a gymnast lacks in these areas, it can hold her back from reaching her full potential. I want every girl to be able to look back at their career and know that they gave it their all and became the best gymnast they could be.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

My parents own a gymnastics school so I was basically raised in the gym!
